    Big Data Analytics Impact Transformation

    The study aimed at evaluating the applications of big data analytics in enhancing the transformation of the global economy. The sample for this study consisted of consultants who are familiar with big data and transformation in marketing. A total of 396 consultants were sent the study questionnaire to participate in the online survey, of which 118 participants commenced the survey. Companies need such input because only half of them create business events and only a quarter calculate key performance indicators such as profitability. One can only wonder whether there is in fact a wide demand for this classification. From a realistic point of view, it may not matter whether the change is radical or transformative, the real impact is more important. Furthermore, the anticipated increase in post-purchase boost is in line with previous studies which mention that companies can offer precise customer service using the new interface. Findings are not astounding as we see such modifications taking place. The popularity of mobile and social applications facilitates customers to access product and service information in a variety of ways when needed, which further augments their product and service awareness. This study shows increased expectations for the use of automation and self-service communication between institutions and customers. The results assured that businesses need such input to be a starting point for firms to verify their business issues

    Probing redox potential for Iron sulfur clusters in photosystem I

    Photosystem I is a light-driven electron transfer device. Available X-ray crystal structure from Thermosynechococcus elongatus, showed that electron transfer pathways consist of two nearly symmetric branches of cofactors converging at the first iron sulfur cluster FX, which is followed by two terminal iron sulfur clusters FA and FB. Experiments have shown that Fx has lower oxidation potential than FA and FB, which facilitate the electron transfer reaction. Here, we use Density Functional Theory and Multi-Conformer Continuum Electrostatics to explain the differences in the midpoint Em potentials of the Fx, FA and FB clusters. Our calculations show that Fx has the lowest oxidation potential compared to FA and FB due strong pair-wise electrostatic interactions with surrounding residues. These interactions are shown to dominated by the bridging sulfurs and cysteine ligands, which may be attributed to the shorter average bond distances between the oxidized Fe ion and ligating sulfurs for FX compared to FA and FB. Moreover, the electrostatic repulsion between the 4Fe-4S clusters and the positive potential of the backbone atoms is least for FX compared to both of FA and FB. These results agree with the experimental measurements from the redox titrations of low-temperature EPR signals and of room temperature recombination kinetics

    Computational Approach for Probing Redox Potential for Iron-Sulfur Clusters in Photosystem I

    SIMPLE SUMMARY: Many biological systems contain iron–sulfur clusters, which are typically found as components of electron transport proteins. Continuum electrostatic calculations were used to investigate the effect of protein environment on the redox properties of the three iron–sulfur clusters in the cyanobacterial photosystem I. Our results show a good correlation between the estimated and the measured reduction potential. Moreover, the results indicate that the low potential of F(X) is shown to be due to the interactions with the surrounding residues and ligating sulfurs.     Tubo-Ovarian Presentation of Burkitt’s Lymphoma: Case Report

    Burkitt’s lymphoma rarely presents as a primary of the ovary. High index of suspicion is required to avoid delay of definitive management. There are a few case reports presented on ovarian Burkitt’s lymphoma. We present a case of a 23 year old, para 1+1 HIV negative patient who presented to the Kenyatta National Hospital with a one month history of progressive abdominal swelling, fatigue, lower limb swelling, nausea and vomiting. Abdominal examination, revealed bilateral adnexal masses confirmed by ultrasonography. She underwent emergency laparotomy following a diagnosis of bilateral ovarian masses with torsion. Surgical specimen  showed tubo-ovarian tissue with sheets of lymphoid cells of small to intermediate size, with numerous tangible body macrophages depicting a starry sky appearance. Immunohistochemistry demonstrated a strongly positive CD20, a positive CD 10, a 90-95% positive Ki67, a positive Bcl6 and a negative pan-CK. A definitive diagnosis of tubo-ovarian Burkitt’s was made. The patient unfortunately succumbed before commencement of chemotherapy. Autopsy, concluded the cause of death to be widely disseminated Burkitt’s lymphoma, with a most likely tubo-ovarian primary and intestinal obstruction. Burkitt’s lymphoma should be considered as a differential diagnosis in ovarian masses for timely diagnosis and management
